Course Description: Classroom management problems have hindered the progress of education for centuries. Although applied behavior analysis technology has solved many difficult problems, many teachers are unaware of such techniques. Both indirect and direct ways to modify disruptive classroom behavior focus on techniques that are easy and inexpensive to implement. The critical importance of fluency and its relationship to classroom management is highlighted with effective procedures for successfully modifying behavior.
Objectives:
- Describe three procedures for generating high rates of three-term contingencies.
- Define fluency and describe its importance to the learning process.
- Describe the steps for directly modifying student behavior.
- Describe three procedures for identifying potential classroom reinforcers.
- Describe three easily implemented procedures for directly modifying classroom behavior.
